While you’re drinking your rich, morning coffee, exotic countries such as Guatemala and Mexico may come to mind. These countries produce great coffee, but are among the poorest in the world. So next time you reach for a bag of coffee, stop, think, and ask questions from the person or place selling the coffee:

  1. Where, and from whom, did the roaster buy the coffee?
  2. Does the roaster work cooperatively with the farmer to continually and permanently raise workers' quality of life.
  3. Does the roaster advocate environmental protection, biodiversity at the farm?

If the answers are yes, then buy that bag or cup. If it's Rogers Family Company coffee, your purchase may have just helped provide a house, school or doctor for some of the world's poorest people, preserved rainforest that might hold a cure for a deadly disease, or even saved a Toucan or Jaguar from poachers.
